About Dean Heagle
Even in Kindergarten I would regularly stay after school to have more time to draw. While I studied Anthropology in college, I chose to make my living doing graphic art and I was there at the “beginning” in what would later become the tech invasion starting with personal computers, leading to the internet and then “smart” phones. In the 80’s I published several volumes of an alternative magazine called “Nowhere.” I had some gallery shows while in Minneapolis and helped run a part time art gallery called “Circus to the Trade.” which was briefly famous in the 80s. In 1988 I moved to NY and many creative pursuits fell by the wayside as I found making a living in NYC to be overwhelming. The only formal training I’ve had in graphic art was in the 90’s at the School of Visual Arts, where many teachers encouraged me to use traditional media and my hands instead of the computer. I started taking photos while on vacation many years ago and around 2016 I started to take it more seriously. It was my artist’s eye that saw promising compositions in everyday objects and scenes.
